NHY Duty Free Shop
Craftell Home provided customized retail furniture and supporting products for the NHY Duty Free Shop at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport in Ethiopia, developed around duty-free product presentation, brand merchandising, and the customer shopping experience. Furniture was customized according to the store layout, display requirements, and overall design specifications, balancing the functional demands of airport retail with product presentation and the overall store environment.
Project Overview
The NHY Duty Free Shop is located within Addis Ababa Bole International Airport in Ethiopia and forms part of the airport’s travel retail environment. Covering approximately 2,045 sq. ft., the project was completed in 2021. As an airport duty-free retail project, the store required an efficient arrangement of product displays, customer circulation, and shopping functions within a compact commercial space, supported by customized retail fixtures and furniture.
Project Scope & Product Supply
The supply scope focused on product presentation and commercial operations within the airport duty-free store, including display cabinets, counters, merchandising furniture, custom cabinetry, and supporting millwork. Furniture was customized according to the store dimensions, product categories, and customer circulation, with careful coordination of construction, dimensions, display heights, materials, and finishes to create an efficient merchandising layout and enhance the overall shopping experience.
Note: The project was developed for a high-traffic airport travel retail environment, where furniture and display fixtures needed to support product presentation, customer circulation, and long-term commercial use. Customized display furniture and millwork were integrated to create clear merchandising within a compact space while maintaining a cohesive retail environment.
Design Requirements & Customized Solutions
The project focused on product presentation and retail functionality within an airport duty-free environment. The furniture needed to work with the store layout, merchandising requirements, and customer circulation while maintaining a cohesive retail setting. Craftell Home customized and manufactured the display furniture, cabinetry, and supporting millwork according to the project drawings and spatial requirements.
Customized Product Display Systems — Display cabinets, display units, and shelving were customized according to product sizes, categories, and presentation requirements, balancing merchandising impact with convenient product access.
High-Precision Custom Millwork — Cabinets and millwork were manufactured to suit wall, column, and display-area dimensions, with close attention to joints, corners, door panels, and finishing details.
Custom Checkout & Service Counters — Checkout and service counters were developed according to operational requirements and available space, combining practical functionality with the overall retail design.
Space & Customer Flow Coordination — Furniture dimensions and layouts were coordinated with entrances, display areas, service zones, and circulation paths to maintain a clear and comfortable shopping flow.
Material & Finish Coordination — Wood, metal, and other materials were selected according to the interior design scheme, with colors, textures, and finishes coordinated to create a cohesive retail environment.
Detail Finishing & Quality Control — Particular attention was given to panel joints, edge treatment, hardware installation, surface quality, and assembly precision to meet the demands of a high-frequency airport retail environment.
